water black bronze
this progression of blackness
this surface of "blistering corrosion"
a glinting mirror, star pocked

conversely unblemished
absent of aesthetic

Where do we find this water -

deep

clear

undisturbed?

mahjong stepping stones - for Mishima

along the course of streams and rivers tormented by storms and drought

after flood, catastrophe
resumption of persistence

if possible
if not altered inexorably

this is what I remember
when summer brings clear skies
and kingfishers
I walk carefully along the Mishima stream
children are splashing one another
as I continue
placing 144 tiles
one in front of the other.

Puedo escribir los versos más tristes esta noche....
